How to Block an IP Address in cPanel

Blocking an IP address in cPanel is a useful way to protect your website from unwanted visitors or malicious activities.

Follow this guide to learn how to block an IP address step-by-step.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

To start, access your cPanel account:

  1. Open your browser and go to http://yourdomain.com/cpanel or use the direct cPanel login URL provided by your hosting provider.

  2. Enter your cPanel username and password.

  3. Click Log In.

Step 2: Navigate to the IP Blocker Tool

Once you’re logged in:

  1. Scroll down to the Security section on the cPanel dashboard.

  2. Click on IP Blocker.

Step 3: Add the IP Address to Block

  1. In the IP Blocker interface, locate the input field labeled Add an IP or Range.

  2. Enter the IP address or range you wish to block. Examples:

    • To block a single IP: 192.168.0.1

    • To block a range: 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.255

    • To block all IPs in a subnet: 192.168.0.0/24

  3. Click Add.

Step 4: Confirm Blocked IP Addresses

After adding the IP, the blocked address will appear in the Currently-Blocked IP Addresses list.

  • Review this list to ensure the correct IPs are blocked.

  • To unblock an IP, click the Delete button next to the address.

  • Double-check IPs before blocking: Ensure you’re not accidentally blocking legitimate users or your own IP.

  • Use Cloudflare (if applicable): For advanced IP blocking, consider integrating Cloudflare, which allows additional filtering and protection.
