How to Add a Website in cPanel

How to Add a Website in cPanel

Adding a new website in cPanel is a straightforward process with FastWebHost.

Whether you’re hosting multiple domains or setting up a subdomain, this guide will show you how to add a website in cPanel step by step.

Step 1: Log In to Your cPanel Account

  1. Open your browser and go to your cPanel login page:

  2. Enter your username and password, then click Log In.

Step 2: Decide the Type of Website to Add

You can add a new website as a:

  1. Addon Domain: Use this to host a completely separate website with its own domain.

  2. Subdomain: A subsection of your existing domain (e.g., blog.yourdomain.com).

  3. Alias (Parked Domain): Redirect one domain to another (e.g., mydomain.com to anotherdomain.com).

Step 3: Add an Addon Domain

To host a new domain with its own website:

  1. In the Domains section of cPanel, click Addon Domains.

  2. Enter the following details:

    • New Domain Name: Enter the full domain name (e.g., newdomain.com).

    • Subdomain: This field will auto-fill.

    • Document Root: This specifies the folder where your website files will be stored. It will auto-fill based on the domain name but can be customized.

  3. Click Add Domain.

  4. Once the domain is added, upload your website files to the specified Document Root using the File Manager or FTP.

Step 4: Add a Subdomain

To create a subsection of an existing domain:

  1. In the Domains section, click Subdomains.

  2. Enter the following details:

    • Subdomain: Enter the name for your subdomain (e.g., blog).

    • Domain: Select the parent domain from the dropdown menu.

    • Document Root: Specify or accept the default folder where the files for the subdomain will be stored.

  3. Click Create.

  4. Upload the subdomain’s website files to the specified Document Root.

Step 5: Add an Alias (Parked Domain)

To redirect one domain to another:

  1. In the Domains section, click Aliases.

  2. Enter the domain name you want to redirect in the Domain field.

  3. Click Add Domain.

  4. Ensure the parked domain’s DNS is correctly pointed to your hosting account.

Step 6: Update DNS Settings

For the new domain or subdomain to work:

  • Update the domain’s nameservers to point to FastWebHost.

  • Wait for DNS propagation, which can take up to 24 hours.

  • During that time, the domain may be briefly unavailable. Give it some time, and it will start working soon – usually, a couple of hours is enough.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • DNS Not Resolving: Double-check that the domain is pointing to the correct nameservers.

  • Domain Already Exists: Ensure the domain is not already added to your account.

  • Website Not Loading: Verify that the website files are correctly uploaded to the Document Root folder.
